Bonsai Intermediate Course
Practical Bonsai lessons suitable for intermediate to advanced students.

Time 2 PM - 4.30 PM

Attendees to bring up to 3 Plants they wish to work on. These could be an existing bonsai or plants you wish to bonsai. Ideally there should be a primary (main) plant and the others as back ups. Dean and I can assist you with the decision. Time permitting you may work on more than one plant. We will attempt to leave you with guidance on all the plants in any event.

Course will cover:

Soil & Fertilising: The importance of soil, various additives generally used, and their availability (including how to make your own mix). We will also cover the importance of fertilising and frequency.

Root Pruning: Techniques for pruning roots, including how heavy to prune and when to do it.

Bonsai Tools: An overview of specific bonsai tools and their proper use.

Horticulture: Understanding tree structure and different types of plants.

Pot Selection: Guidelines for choosing the right pot.
Practical Session:
Working directly on your plant. Soil and wire will be provided.
Please note: You need to bring your own tools, or you can purchase tools and pots on the day if required. We have a limited number of tool kits available at a very favourable price (please enquire ahead of time).

Course fee: $155
